Yemen was once recognised as a centre of learning and knowledge, something that has left a profound historical legacy for the country. Yet today children go to school lacking the basic school essentials like books, pens, notebooks and bags. This is not right.
Nearly half a million children have dropped out of school since the 2015 escalation of conflict in Yemen, bringing the total number of out-of-school children to almost 2 million according to UNICEF. This is an enormous proportion of children in the country: 1 in 3 under the age of 18 are not attending school.
To make matters worse, almost three-quarters of public school teachers have not been paid their salaries in years, putting the education of an additional 4.5 million children at grave risk. More than 2,500 schools are out of use, with two-thirds damaged by attacks, 27% closed and 7% used for military purposes or as shelters for displaced people.
“The messenger of Allah said: ‘One Faqih (knowledgeable man) is more formidable against the Shaitan than one thousand devoted worshipers.”
— Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 1, Book 1, Hadith 222
Give The Opportunity!
You can give a child in Yemen the opportunity to go to school tomorrow, and
help rebuild opportunities for the vulnerable children of a devastated land.
At Saba Relief, we strongly believe that education is a key that unlocks countless opportunities. It is a way out of poverty, a driving force for social change and an important aspect of personal development. Without a suitable education, children lack the foundations of growing up with the key social knowledge.
Saba Relief cares deeply about the children affected by the crisis in Yemen – they are the next generation, and will live with the consequences of this conflict. It is our duty to focus all of the attention we can on providing them with outstanding support, service and assistance.
With our various Education Projects, we strive to achieve the following objectives:
Qur’an Learning Project
Thousands of children/orphans in Yemen are deprived of Learning the Qur’an. This is a compulsory component of the Islamic faith that they have limited or no access to.
School Essentials Project
Nearly half a million children have dropped out of school since the 2015 escalation of conflict in Yemen, bringing the total number of out-of-school children to almost 2 million according to UNICEF.
Refurbishment & Equipping of Schools Project
The war in Yemen has been raging for many years now which has left the country in the grip of the world’s biggest humanitarian crisis. A deadly triple threat – bombs, disease and hunger – is threatening an entire generation of children.
We are aiming to GIVE the education children need!
With our various Education Projects, we strive to achieve the following objectives

Reduce in Cost
To reduce the cost of education for the student’s family & help each student get the education they need.
To encourage poor students to learn and get a good education, which will help them financially in the future.
To provide moral support to orphans and needy students and make them feel that they have family supporting them during difficult times
